ReflectionIn this reflection I will reflect on the idea that to reflect theologically is to be vulnerable to change in our ways of thinking, perceptions and feelings. In my Christian formation education I learned to understand my experiences and base my perceptions on the basis of Holy Scriptures, faith tradition and Christian doctrine. In my reflections I have learned to extinguish thoughts that appear contrary or contradictory to my strongly held beliefs. I like to stay within ideas in the realm of my understanding of Christian doctrine. My personal experience has been difficulty in entering into a contemplative stance and be receptive to new realities of my experiences. I find that I quickly rationalize my experiences and interpret them on the basis of prior learning or experiences. In this reading I have learned that theological reflection that leads to spiritual discernment is founded on opening the mind to perceiving, inviting self-revelation and discerning what the Spirit brings to mind. This reading has clarified my thoughts on bringing my faith to bear on my life experiences and perception of events through theological reflection CITATION Ric061 \l 7177 (Dickey, 2006). My theological reflection is heavily colored by the lens of my
