Domestic violence is the most common crime that is committed against women especially those in marriage institution. Battering has come out as the most conspicuous violence witnessed almost daily in many homes around the globe. Women battering can be treated as an epidemic issue that is sending many women to the grave before their time. Domestic violence has become more dangerous than the deadly disease of HIV/AIDS. Domestic violence is a social problem that is affecting individuals no matter their age, race, religion, economic status and even educational background (Geles 1980). Statistics shows that in every four women, one is a victim of domestic violence in her life time. Currently as we speak, one point three million women are assaulted physically every year across the world. And of all the domestic violence witnessed in the society, women account for eighty five percent of the total domestic violence ranging from physical assault, sexual abuses, battery and even murder. According to historical statistics, women in life have been victimized by someone they know.
