Business ecosystem has been defined as “An economic community supported by a foundation of interacting organizations and individuals—the organisms of the business world. The economic community produces goods and services of value to customers, who are themselves members of the ecosystem. “The member organisms also include suppliers, lead producers, competitors, and other stakeholders” (Moore, 1996, p. 26). Business ecosystems are complex business communities from which innovative businesses attract all sorts of resources, capital, partners, suppliers and customers. Before the advent of the concept of business ecosystems terms such as business networks and strategic alliances were being used. However these terms did not adequately capture the complexity of business ecosystems in which interdependent businesses evolve in an endless cycle in which changes in one business sets the stage for change in another and vice versa (Moore, 1993). All businesses function within an ecosystem as no business can function in a vacuum. Businesses have to be
