Tabatha Hampton RE: Week 3 Discussion SparkCOLLAPSETop of FormI chose 1) The relationship between areas of high population growth and high child mortality. Growth through natural increase occurse when birth rates exceed death rates. In 2005 there was an additional 1.7 million people. in spite of an average small family--measured by the total fertility rate--is estimated by the number of births to women during their lifetimes. The rate of natural increase of population depends on birth and death rates, which is strongly influenced by the age structure of the population. Births primarily occur in people in the young adults age group. There is a lower mortality rate in young adults that there will be more deaths then there are deaths. In the United States, birth rates have raised compared to death rates, partly due to how young the age structure of the population is. Immigrants, who are younger than the U.S-born population, play a significant role in keeping the population younger than most other developed countries. The momentum of population growth is less developed countries is slowed while lager number of young adults from previous high fertility has passed the childbearing years. Said momentum is very
