Discussion 1.2: Current TrendsBrandon Simmons Sep 25, 2016 2:07 PM Diversity in the workplace is a challenging subject not only for employees but for employers as well. Diversity distinguishes employee characteristics such as age, sex, and race, but the two hot ticket items that most people think of when thinking of a diverse workplace are race and sex. I would like to break down what I see in my small little world on a daily basis when it comes to race. The majority of workers are typically Caucasian. Then I see Sprinkles of different ethnic groups, primarily African American. What I would really like to touch on is the very few females I see in my in the aircraft maintenance world. I hear grips, not really gripes, but more misgivings about how woman are not accepted in this primarily male dominated world. I feel that it is not completely the companies fault for not hiring more woman because woman tend to not apply for the positions that are open for fear that they will be treated unjustly.
