The complexity comes when it comes to establishing the owner of the information and knowledge. Once accessed, personal data can be used in unwanted activities such as Libel whereby one can publish a false written statement that damages one’s or a company’s reputation. Posting of such false information is easy today as people can post it by the use of false screen names or anonymous email accounts. Using fake names and accounts is a cheeky way of avoiding any libel charges. In handling these private issues, the government has certain laws. These include E-Government Act of 2002, Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendments Act of 2008, and Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003.
