According to the Population Reference Bureau Report, the old will double by 2060 ("Fact Sheet: Aging in the United States – Population Reference Bureau," 2018). Currently, the numbers stand at 46 million. Furthermore, the fastest growing segment is 85 years and above ("Living Old," 2018). The high longevity is as a result of improved medical care, and healthy eating habits. However, the rise in older adults has its challenges to the individuals, families, and the society. These include loss of functioning on the part of the aging, dependency on the family and increased health budget for the society. Therefore, this paper discusses the life of the older adults in the society. The demographic patterns in America have changed over the years. The increase in the numbers of the aging is shocking.
