Its roles include the prevention of cyber crimes among others. This document looks at the function of DHS in cyber security. The United States faces a lot of cyber security threats from internal and external enemies. The victims include government agencies and the private sector. In 2014, Sony Pictures Entertainment suffered a major attack from a North Korean hacker named the “Guardians of Peace” which released its confidential information. In 2016, Hilary Clinton’s campaign network was also hacked by alleged Russian hackers. However, as the DHS attempts to prevent similar crimes from recurring, the major question that arises is whether the citizens are able to get both security and privacy. The right to privacy is a fundamental human right granted in the fourth amendment to the US constitution.
