The process has several stages the first stage is trouble shooting of component; the second stage is assessing the condition of the components and replacing elements. The measurement that defines the process metrics is the failure rate for each stage in the process. The current process had an average failure rate of 25 percent at the test stage before process improvement which is expected to reduce failure rate to no more than 5 percent. Statistical Process Control or SPC is a technique for measuring and controlling quality using quality data from the process. The SPC tool that will be used in this project is the SPC control chart which has two functions. One is to establish the intrinsic level of variation for each stage and second to identify variation caused by external factors (Smith, 1998).
