Initially, I think that the purpose of healthcare was more altruistic. It is my belief that health insurance began as a means to provide people with much needed medical services, without creating financial hardship. However, over time, I believe that the American health insurance industry adopted a more corporate mentality. This capitalistic mentality, in my opinion, has created a health insurance industry with a primary purpose to create profits. It is my belief that the health insurance industry is in need of reform. One way of reforming health insurance would be to impose certain limits. However, once limits are imposed, they would be very inflexible. The only limits I would support would include limiting premium increases.
